And the Spiderman Villain is......
Lizard?!?!?!?
Actor C. Thomas Howell may have accidentally spilled the beans when he was discussing his minor role in the film. Here is what he had to say:
"There is not a whole lot to talk about. Sony wants us to be hush-hush right now. I play a relatively small role. I play a construction worker who's son is caught in the middle of a battle between the Lizard and Spider-Man on the Manhattan bridge. Spider-Man helps me get my son back from this perilous situation. There is some payback there at the end of the movie. Spider-man is kind of hurting. I help him when all of the other people won't. Part of the story is, the nation thinks he might be a bad guy. They don't know what to think. Because of my experience on the bridge with my kid, I know he is a good guy. I pitch in and help out at the end. That is the best way."
I am not a huge follower of Spidey, but this does sound pretty neat!!! Any thoughts from our big Spiderman fans out there?!?

Hopkins to play Hitchcock!
Sir Anthony is currently in talks to portray Alfred Hitchcock. The movie is rumored to be based on the book Alfred Hitchcock the Making of Psycho by Stephen Rebello. The movie is to be directed by Sacha Gervasi.
Ahh! I think with a little weight gain, Sir Anthony will make the perfect Hitchcock! Hitchcock is my favorite director, so I am SUPER excited for this movie! I am already going to throw out this prediction-Sir Anthony will be nominated for an Oscar! What are your thoughts on the casting??!?!?

Mark your Calendars- Mean Girls 2!
Mark your calendars and set your DVR because Mean Girls 2 is premiering on ABC Family on January 23rd at 8:00 pm!!! The thought of even watching this movie is about as bad as the thought of Sarah Palin running for president (sorry to our Republican readers). I am surprised Lohan is not in this as she appears not to have any other projects to do in between her stints in rehab. I do have to admit I did like the first Mean Girls. On a side note: Has anyone noticed that a good chunk of the shows and movies on ABC family are not family-oriented at all! Nothing says family time like watching a group of stuck up girls!

Dream Come True-Gilmore Girls Movie!

Here is what Lauren Graham, aka Lorelai Gilmore, had to say:
"It might [happen]. What's funny to me is that in all these years, no-one ever talked about [a film] except the fans. But now people… who could actually make it happen are talking about it. I think it could be good, but I wonder if we've waited too long. I don't want to be walking around the town square with a cane. It's hard to say because the show was never very plot driven. That is what might be uncovered in a two-hour movie."
Here is to keeping fingers-crossed and hoping this happens!!

In Twilight news.....
Rumor has it that Summit Entertainment is looking at the possibility of making The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner in to a feature film. It would be released after Breaking Dawn. Here is what is being said about the project:
"It goes without saying Summit want to continue this franchise… Tanner is the one they're looking at post-Breaking Dawn… It's too early to talk casting, and everything we're hearing is just speculation or off a wish list, but I don't believe they plan on using the original actress, Jodelle Ferland, for the spin-off film. It's all about numbers and names — you guys know that."
I was surprisingly pleased with Bree Tanner and would like to see it made in to a movie. Thoughts?!?

IMDB goes Mobile! (aka, The Mike Can Leave His Apartment And Feel Safe!)
OK, maybe it won't display EXACTLY like that (my guess is that somebody f'd up the word "nikto"), but IMDB has finally released its own mobile website (m.imdb.com) for phone-based browsers.
This has long been one of the biggest thorns in the side of movie nerds, or at least in the side of a movie nerd named The Mike. But really, we've all been there. We're with friends, watching whatever we're choosing to watch, and someone goes "Isn't that the guy from Trog?" or "Where have I seen that detective before?".
Now, I've long been a big fan of what I call "the phoneternet" - I actually went about two years without actual internet thanks to it. But for some reason, IMDB has never made that transition to this awkward medium of information sharing that I've grown to love. So when those questions come up and the laptops aren't handy, or when you're arguing over who played the Predator in that 1987 classic (No, it wasn't Jean Claude Van Damme, alright! He dropped out of the movie and was replaced by Harry himself, Kevin Peter Hall.) at dinner, it was difficult to get to the info. Wikipedia was the easier source to use, too! And they're totally not as reliable as IMDB!
Now, despite what appears to be a toddler version of the mobile page, those questions can be answered with a bit less frustration. Thus, we say thank you to you, IMDB! You've made the world a better place for nerds and cinephiles everywhere, and you've made us as excited as that weird chick from Harry Potter!

I Want Me Some Of That MONSTERS Action.
The fine folks over at Magnolia Pictures and Magnet Releasing were kind enough to send the first images of the US poster for the independent monster film that's simply titled Monsters. This was already one of my most anticipated films of the year, and a breathtaking poster only adds to the mystery of what looks to be a potential companion to Cloverfield and District 9.
Directed by Gareth Edwards and starring a two person cast of relative unknowns Whitney Able and Scoot McNairy, Monsters will premiere via On Demand services September 24th. The theatrical premiere in the states will follow on October 29th, following the same release schedule Magnet has used for the likes of District 13: Ultimatum, George Romero's Survival of the Dead, and Neil Marshall's currently on-demand Centurion.
What say you, members of the (O)PP Brigade? Check out the official site and/or the trailer below, and let us know what you think!
